Advanced Nanoimprint Lithography System for Hard Disk Drive Patterned Media
Imprio HD2200 system represents the state of the art technology in cassette to cassette automated nanoimprint lithography for the hard disk drive (HDD) market. Its precision patterning fidelity, automated double-sided disk patterning capability and high throughput of 150 disks per hour all contribute to significant advantages in performance and cost of ownership (CoO) over alternative technologies such as spin-on UV and thermal imprint.
Imprio HD2200 is part of the comprehensive Jet and Flash™ Imprint Lithography (J-FIL™) nanoimprint lithography solution, encompassing expert process support, low-viscosity nanoimprint resists and template fabrication. Because the nanoimprint imprint process leverages Molecular Imprints’ proprietary IntelliJet™ Drop Pattern Generator technology, which places low-viscosity resist only where needed, consumables are not wasted and there is no need to purchase a costly and space-consuming track as required by spin-on imprint techniques.
Imprio HD2200 uses a room-temperature liquid, process and does not experience the thermal distortions associated with the baking step, or the defect issues associated with the lamination pressure of thermal imprint processes. Due to these and other advantages, HDD manufacturers are quickly standardizing on Molecular Imprints’ technology for their commercial bit patterned media (BPM) roadmaps.
Resolution: Sub-20nm, half-pitch for discrete track and bit patterned media
Throughput (double-sided): >150 disks per hour
Alignment: <10 microns (relative to disk spindle hole)
Disk Automation: Fully automated cassette-to-cassette and template loading
