Associate Software Engineer

Position Summary

Responsible for C++ development including device drivers and systems engineering.

Essential Functions

  •  Work with a group or mentor to design, develop, write, debug and /or maintain software drivers, hardware interfaces, and applications.
  • Document code functionality internally with code and externally to customers.
  • Measure and improve code quality through code testing and lightweight organizational procedures.
  • Recommend improvements for code infrastructure and architectural design as appropriate.
  • Coordinate activities with manufacturing, applications, and other engineering groups as appropriate.  Support these groups when needed.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor of  Science in Software Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Electrical Engineering degree is preferred.  Masters degree is preferred.

Experience

  • College or equivalent programming and/or systems engineering experience, especially interfacing to hardware.
  • Must be motivated, fast, and precise, with excellent debugging skills.
  • With guidance, must be capable at controlling hardware stages and writing device drivers in ANSI C++
  • Must be functional with working in a UNIX or Linux environment with GNU tools.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written English skills
  • Must be able to communicate difficult problems efficiently and resolve conflicting goals.
  • Must be adaptable, team oriented, and must play well with others.
  • Working knowledge of Java and user interfaces is a plus, but not essential.
