Jennifer Scott Fonstad
Jennifer Fonstad is a Managing Director at Draper Fisher Jurvetson, having joined the firm in 1997. Ms. Fonstad has worked for 20 years with both large corporations and start-ups to help build their organizations. At Draper Fisher Jurvetson, her investments span a broad set of both technology and life sciences companies including Internet services, wireless networks, medical devices and nanotechnology. She graduated Cum Laude from Georgetown University, and holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Edward C. Grady
Edward Grady retired as president and CEO of Brooks Automation and became a director in October 2007. Prior to joining Brooks in February 2003, he successfully ran several divisions at KLA-Tencor, including the largest revenue and profit-producing group, helping grow the business to a level in excess of $1 billion in revenues. Prior to KLA-Tencor, he served as president and CEO of Hoya Micro Mask for three years, driving restructuring and cost reduction initiatives to transform the business from a loss to a profit in two years. He started his career as an engineer for Monsanto/MEMC, and during his 14 years with the company, rose to the position of vice president of worldwide sales for EPI, the most profitable division in MEMC. During his 30 years in the industry, Mr. Grady has held a number of responsibilities that included engineering, sales, product marketing, strategic marketing and management of profit and loss operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Southern Illinois University and a MBA from the University of Houston. He currently serves on the Board of Brooks Automation Inc. (BRKS), Evergreen Solar Inc. (ESLR), Integrated Materials Inc. and New Wave Research.
Talat Hasan
Talat Hasan is the former chairman and CEO of Sensys Instruments, a company she founded in 1996 to market products for the semiconductor manufacturing industry. She holds an M.A. in physics from Oxford University and a B.Sc. in physics from Aligarh Muslim University, India. Prior to founding Sensys, she was vice president of corporate business development at Tencor Instruments (now KLA-Tencor), and, in 1983, was cofounder of Prometrix Corporation, serving as a board member and senior vice president of strategic planning when the company merged with Tencor. Previously, she worked as a scientist, conducting research in semiconductor characterization and process control, and working for almost five years at Signetics Corporation/Philips Research Labs in Sunnyvale. She currently serves on the board of directors of Microbar and the board of trustees of Castilleja School (a private school for girls). She is also active as an Angel investor for start-up companies and a mentor to several budding entrepreneurs. Together with her husband, she has established the Hasan Family Foundation and endowed a chair in Indian classical music at UC Santa Cruz.
C. Mark Melliar-Smith,
Mark has over 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. Mark has been a Venture Partner with Austin Ventures, a venture capital company that focuses on telecommunications, semiconductors and software businesses, since January 2002. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of International SEMATECH, a research and development consortium in the integrated circuits industry from 1997 to 2001 and Chief Technical Officer for Lucent Technologies Microelectronics, the forerunner of Agere Systems, from 1990 to 1996. Mark joined AT&T Bell Labs in 1970 and held a variety of key engineering and management positions, including Executive Director of Bell Labs Integrated Circuits and Photonics Division. He has held a wide variety of technical and management positions in R&D, manufacturing, and business management, including Executive Director of the Bell Laboratories Photonics and Integrated Circuit Division, and VP and General Manager of the AT&T Lightwave Business Unit. He serves on the Board of Directors for Power-One, Technitrol, Metrosol, and Molecular Imprints. He holds BS and PhD degrees in Chemistry from Southampton University in England, and an MBA from Rockhurst College in Kansas City.
Daniel I. Rubin
Daniel Rubin joined Alloy Ventures in 1999. He received a BA in Physics from Pomona College (1982). In 1991 he was a co-founder of Artisan Components and the initial VP of Sales and Marketing. He was the VP of Business Development through their initial public offering in 1998. Prior to Artisan Components Mr. Rubin worked at Ultratech Stepper in many roles including Director of Product Marketing and Managing Director of Asian Operations. Dan is also a director of CiraNova, Ensenda, Nexsil and Gradient, and a board observer at Ellie Mae and Integrated Materials, Inc.
S.V. Sreenivasan
S.V. Sreenivasan is a founder and Chief Technical Officer of Molecular Imprints. He is one of the inventors of Jet and Flash™ Imprint Lithography (J-FIL™) technology. S.V. is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and the Thornton Centennial Fellow in Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University. He specializes in the area of high throughput nano-manufacturing processes as applied to terabit density magnetic storage, nanoelectronics, and photonic devices. He has led interdisciplinary projects involving development of tools, masks, materials, and processes for successful deployment of J-FIL technology. His interests also include adaptation of J-FIL technology for emerging applications in the biomedical and energy sectors. S.V. has published over 100 technical articles and holds over 60 U.S. patents in the area of nanomanufacturing. S.V. has received several awards including being named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2005, University of Texas Chancellors’ Award for Entrepreneurship in 2007, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Leonardo Da Vinci Award in 2009.
