Introducing the Imprio® HD 2200
Resolution: Sub-20
nm, half-pitch for discrete track and bit pattened media
Throughput (double-sided): 180 disks per hour
Alignment: <10 microns (relative to disk spindle hole)
Disk Automation: Fully automated cassette-to-cassette and template loading
The Imprio® HD 2200 system represents the next generation in fully automated nano-imprint lithography for the hard disk drive (HDD) market. Its precision patterning fidelity, automated double-sided disk patterning capability and high throughput of 180 disks per hour all contribute to significant advantages in performance and cost of ownership (CoO) over alternative technologies such as spin-on UV imprint and thermal imprint.
The Imprio HD 2200 is part of a comprehensive S-FIL lithography solution, encompassing expert process support, low-viscosity imprint resists and template fabrication. Because the imprint process leverages Molecular Imprints’ proprietary pico-jetting technology, which places low-viscosity resists only where needed, consumables are not wasted and there is no need to purchase a costly and space-consuming track as required by spin-on imprint techniques.
The Imprio HD 2200 uses a liquid, room-temperature process and does not encounter the thermal distortions associated with the baking step or the defect issues associated with the lamination pressure of thermal imprint processes. Due to these and other advantages, HDD manufacturers are quickly standardizing on Molecular Imprints’ imprint technology for their commercial discrete track recording (DTR) and bit patterned media (BPM) roadmaps.
The Imprio® HD 2200 is ideally suited for both development and pilot-production of patterned media applications.
